Artist Bio

Smooth, polished, and fine texture our words commonly used when describing the luxurious ebony carvings found in many cultures. The same can be said about the amazing voice of hip-hop Soul that is Ebony James.
Raised in Cleveland, Ohio and singing since the young age of three Ebony James says “Faith, God, and family” have gotten her to the point of where she is now and she has displayed strength in overcoming early obstacles in her life and shows this versatility in her music of which she writes predominantly on her own.
On top of her intense live Ebony James is currently working on her highly anticipated album “The Play List” after receiving much attention from her fast moving single “OneNiteStand”.
As a teenager Ebony James was part of the singing trio Chosen Fate which opened for many acts like The O’Jays,SWV, The Chi-Lites , Dramatics, Whispers, Zapp Band,Take Sixx, and New Edition. Even though the ladies went their separate ways in 2007 she attributes her time with the group as a key part of her development as an artist.
Undaunted Ebony is pursuing her solo career with a vengeance. She says ” I don’t wanna just work for anybody but want to pursue what I was given!” This passion has led to shows at The Palace Theatre, Micheal Jackson’s father Joe Jackson/Marshall Thompson Birthday party,Cleveland’s Ingenuity Fest, interviews with TheGoodGirl.com, features on Eighty 81.com and other music and entertainment sites. Also she has repeatedly sang the National Anthem for The Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers representing her city to the fullest.
Desribed as a modern day Diana Ross she is focused solely on being a solo artist and has the desire, talent, and drive to pull it off.
Ebony James is a complete package writer, singer, and performer determined to show the world what Hip-Hop Soul is. Not only opening the door for Cleveland artists but for woman as well.
