The long-term goal of Hollywood In The Hood is to empower young people and their families to break the habits that are leading to trouble at home, in school, and in the streets through a process of social entrepreneurship and life skills training. The role of our licensed partners is to recognize when a part of society is stuck and to provide new ways to get it unstuck. He or she determines what is not working and solves the problem by changing the way business is done, spreading the solution, while persuading the larger community to take new directions.

Identifying and solving large-scale social problems, such as poverty, requires a network of social entrepreneurs because only the entrepreneur has the committed vision and inexhaustible determination to persist until they have transformed an entire system. The scholar comes to rest when he or she expresses an idea. The professional succeeds when he or she solves a client’s problem. The manager calls it quits when he or she has enabled his organization to succeed. Social entrepreneurs go beyond the immediate problem seeking fundamental change negative relationships in communities, which is what is required wherever poverty exists to stem the historical patterns of predatory practices in the larger community.
